Hands-on Training Equips Participants with Skills to Measure Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Rice Farming

A training course on Greenhouse Gas Emission Assessment in Rice Production was held from 17 to 19 February 2025 at the KMUTT Knowledge Exchange for Innovation Center (KX) and the KMUTT Advanced Greenhouse Gas and Aerosol Research Laboratory. This intensive, hands-on program focused on fieldwork and practical application, equipping participants with the knowledge and skills to assess greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in rice cultivation.

Participants conducted on-site sampling at the Ban Suan Taeng Community Rice Center in Suphan Buri Province and analyzed collected samples using gas chromatography (GC). They also practiced calculating GHG emissions under expert guidance.

The course was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sirintornthep Towprayoon, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Amnat Chidthaisong, and Dr. Nittaya Cha-un, all from JGSEE. In addition, Mr. Pichit Kiatsomporn, President of Ban Suan Taeng Community Rice Center, served as a guest instructor during the fieldwork session.

A total of 33 participants attended the course, including 20 from universities, 10 from the private sector, and 3 from other organizations. Through a combination of theoretical insights and hands-on experience, participants developed practical skills in measuring and analyzing GHG emissions in rice cultivation, strengthening their capacity to implement agricultural carbon credit projects in the future.
