JGSEE successfully organized a Training Course on the Development of Carbon Credit Projects for Rice Farming on 13–14 November 2024 at the KX Building in Bangkok. This two-day course aimed to equip participants with in-depth knowledge and practical skills for developing agricultural carbon credit projects, with a particular focus on rice farming.
Key topics included the Thailand Voluntary Emission Reduction Program (T-VER) for Agriculture, international carbon credit mechanisms such as the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM), Gold Standard, and Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), as well as methodologies for emission measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV). Participants also gained hands-on experience in preparing project design documents (PDDs), applying IPCC-standard methods for assessing greenhouse gas emissions, and utilizing tools such as the Closed-Chamber technique and the DeNitrification–DeComposition (DNDC) model.
The training attracted over 50 participants, including university lecturers, researchers, and farmers. In response to overwhelming interest, a second cohort is now open for registration and will be held on 13–14 January 2025.
