Visit to Korean institutions fosters manpower development through TAS program

Prof. Dr. Navadol Laosiripojana and Dr. Verawat Champreda, members of Hub Net Zero, joined the Thai delegation of executives and researchers on a visit to South Korea from 8-11 July 2024. Organized by the Program Management Unit for Human Resources & Institutional Development, Research and Innovation (PMU-B), the visit was a follow-up to the MOU signed between PMU-B and the University of Science & Technology (UST) of South Korea on 14 September 2023. The MOU aims to enhance cooperation in education, science, technology, and innovation through activities such as faculty and student exchanges, joint research, and joint seminars.

The delegation was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Weerapong Pairsuwan, Executive Chairman of PMU-B; Mrs. Suwannee Khamman, Consultant to PMU-B Executive Committee; and Asst. Prof. Dr. Paripok Phitsuwan, Deputy Director of PMU-B. The purpose of this visit was to foster collaboration between Thai researchers receiving funded by the PMU-B’s Thailand Academy of Sciences (TAS) program and Korean institutions. TAS program aims to develop non-conventional researcher graduate programs which include short-term research opportunities at foreign institutions to be offered through the Future Graduate Platform.

The study visit included stops at the University of Science & Technology (UST), Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology (KZRIBB), Korea Institute of Fusion Energy (KFE), and Korea Manhwa Museum.

Prof. Dr. Navadol Laosiripojana and Dr. Verawat Champreda are part of a research team funded the PMU-B’s Thailand Academy of Sciences (TAS) program. Their project focuses on developing innovative graduate programs in science and technology to support net zero emissions. This study visit helps strengthen collaboration in research and staff/student exchange between Hub Net Zero and Korean institutions.
