Seminar on municipal solid waste management leads to waste-to-energy discussion

On 26 March 2024, the Joint Graduate School of Energy and Environment (JGSEE), in

collaboration with Eastern Energy Plus Co., Ltd. (EEP Group Thailand), organized a seminar titled “MSW Management with a New Positive Flavor: A Case Study in Samut Prakan Province.” The event was held at the Moove Event Center in Tambon Preakasamai, Samutprakan Province.

Mr. Supoj Putikiatkhajon, Deputy Governor of Samut Prakan Province, presided over the seminar. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Amnat Chidthaisong, Deputy Director of JGSEE, provided an introduction to the seminar’s objectives. Following this, Mr. Abinash Maji, Chief Executive Officer of EEP Group, delivered an overview of municipal solid waste management in Samut Prakarn Province. Subsequent presentations by researchers focused on various aspects of MSW management, including the characterization of waste components, the production of soil conditioner from organic waste, examination of waste characteristics in landfills, and the monitoring of methane gas using geophysical methods. During the seminar, Asst.Prof.Dr.Komsilp Wangyao and Asst.Prof.Dr. Awassada Phongpipat, Researchers from AGAR at the JGSEE, discussed research gaps and potential trends in waste utilization, valorization, and waste-to-energy technologies. Among the speakers were Dr. Satetha Siyang from the MUl Robotics Co., Ltd., and Dr. Wijarn Intornrakamhang from the Pollution Control Department.
